i just read this on gawker about the rules at martha stewart's new offices--
martha decided that her new design scheme will be tainted by any of the following: ink colors other than red or black, desks that are not completely clear at the end of the day, except for one metal basket of approved office supplies, and anything that could be construed as being personal, such as photos or coffee mugs.
this kind of frightens me. if she is this much of a control freak, i'm guessing there must be NO casual friday.....? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
applications, anyone?

Oh that's drama! I'd leave little things every day in the center box like a hair clip and a purple pen and a nickel...oh the fun I could have!
I can understand about the black ink. I hate blue. So tacky.
But the clean desk? I'd be fired pronto.

OMG! My friend did an internship at Martha Stewart and he said it was totally sterile, and that Martha was mean, but I didn't know it was that bad. I had another friend who did some freelance photography for the magazine, and he said he would see Martha every day in the hall and she wouldn't look at or talk to anyone, so just to mess with her, he'd yell out her name and make a big deal of saying "hi" to her. He didn't last there very long.
Creepy!!! I think it would be demoralizing not to be able to have personal effect around... odd.

Spencer's cousin works at Martha she says this is BS. She did confirm that there are approved pens and office supplies but the clean desk is crap. If you wanna see real pics go here.
