John Hughes, the writer/director of The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s, Home Alone, Uncle Buck, Sixteen Candles, and basically every other good movie from 1983-1993, has died of a heart attack at the age of 59.

this makes me so sad!
john was my ULTIMATE favorite--his movies were my passion.
when i made my list of ultimate 80's films, he had directed over HALF. he just had the knack for knowing exactly what an emotional, self-doubting teenaged-girl would want to see.
thanks for the memories mr. hughes~

It is sad. We all grew up loving all of his classics.
Long Live Lloyd Dobler.
Oooh!!! Duckie's song is the PERFECT tribute! Nice work!!!
I was so sad when I read about this yesterday. We just watched Pretty in Pink.
His work was genius! I loved all his movies.
The Breakfast Club was the first movie Luvpilot and I saw together.
He was genius.
I think it's about time I introduce my boys to Ferris Bueller. I can't believe I haven't before now.
he pretty much defined being a teenager for our generation. None of us would have been the same without him. Not many people in hollywood become icons, but he was.
