bottom feeder candybars

the rbc bought a big bag of mixed candy for easter, and we had the dredges left down in the bottom that i was about to kick to the curb. for a self-proclaimed chocolate lover, there were still some mini baby ruths and hershey's special darks left, but i took them right over to the trash and THREW THEM OUT. why? you might be wondering why?because they are bottom feeder candybars.

you know the ones that you won't eat even if you are craving something sweet, because they just aren't worth it--basically a waste of good candy making skills and chocolate combined.

i give you the complete bottom feeder candybar list:

I am with you on the dark chocolate. It is blechy and ex-laxy. We're going to have to part company on the peanut thing. I'm lovin' good old baby ruth and payday.

Now you are speaking right to the heart of me! Special dark sucks! So do semi-sweet chocolate chips! Anyone who would make cookies from semi sweet chip is just crazy I say!

i had a love of big hunks one cross country summer vacation in high school. i ate like a million of them. and never again since.

I agree with all of those except the salted nut roll. Are you kidding me? Those are so good... and they have a good name... he he!

I am soooo with you. Every single one of these is a bottom feeder. I actually haven't trued most of these!

now Mindi...don't go gettin' crazy! Rocky Road, come on. Who doesn't love a big hunk of marshmallow covered in chocolate? I have to agree with most of the other selections though, yuk!

I agree with all of them. They aren't worth even having one bite!

Yay for bottom feeders! I am for sure a bottom feeder, I always go for the Special Dark. I know your sister Megan thinks semisweet is the devil (funny). It is what I prefer.

Have you seen this? It is kinda fun to test your knowledge.

I guess I'm the lone person on this, but...are you all smokin'? Nothin' is better than chocolate (sweet) and peanuts (salty) together. And, dark chocolate, real good dark chocolate, makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Oh my hell... Viv is the queen of the bottam feeder candies. I can guarantee that in her drawer right now is at least half of these. She goes to "Lin's" and stocks up on Salted Nut Rolls, 5th Avenue, PayDay and I have seen her rip many a fillings out with a Big Hunk. I will admit to that one myself...I do love a good chewy Big Hunk ( No I am not being naughty...I really like that one) I have got to have my bottam feeding sweet eating mother check out this post... She'll offer you one anytime you're there! You forgot a few...Prarie Schooner, that cherry disaster in the pink wrapper, and the ever famous Idaho Spud. Yes, Viv had to have one of those babies when she visited us in Idaho.

Ugh. All of those make me want to throw up.

Come on now... Baby Ruth candy bars are so yummy! Love them. Big Hunks and Salted Nut Rolls (those are the Lana in me) are also pretty good.

I agree with Megan.. there is nothing wrong with a baby ruth..I do have to bend them before buying them to see how soft and fresh they are.

You need a swift kick I think for the 5th Ave bar being on the list. I agree with all of the others except this one. It is my fav for the cheep chocolate bars. What on earth is there not to like about it. It kicks Butterfingers butt. It is salty & sweet. I can't believe I am defending an american waxey but I do love.

Now don't go hatin' on dark chocolate....ok, the stuff you listed here I'd agree with; those are bottom feeders! But good quality, European dark chocolate? Especially with a little bit of orange or mint added in? That's manna from heaven in my book!

Bottom feeder candy...Love it! I just threw a bunch of that stuff out too!...I hate dark chocolate. ick.
With me it's peanut M&M's all the way baby!

LOVE DARK CHOCOLATE! The only milk chocolate I eat anymore is Snickers, Nutella and Milka bars. Seriously, try Godiva dark chocolate with raspberry filling. Try it, it's good.

Mindi - I just don't remember you holding someone down with your knee in their back making them read your blog? Did I miss something? Do you do that and not tell us?
btw: I spent 8 hours today reading Twilight for the first time.

Um... dark chocolate is the best! Didn't you watch Dr. Oz on Oprah telling us it's actually good for you? Something about flavinoids or antioxidants or something. I can give you an address where you can mail those Special Dark bars... but I do have to agree on the Baby Ruth being icky.

Omgirl said...

You guys are all completely NUTS. And I mean that in the Baby Ruthiest way. Dark Chocolate is for people who actually have developed some taste buds. You guys who eat those disgusting milk chocolate candy bars might as well sit your Miley Cyrus loving, Dora the Explorer watching, flowered-panty wearing buns down in primary next week. Grow up and give into the DARK SIDE. p.s. Milk chocolate chip cookies??? What an insult to cookies. ) p.p.s. No passionate feelings about chocolate here. :)

Mia said...

It's true, dark chocolate is reserved for those of us with evolved taste buds ;) And what how can you not like Mr. Goodbars?!?!? I totally dig those out and go to town. But Renee is right you need to try the dark chocolate squares that are filled the Ghiradehlli mint filled are out of this world, if you like mint.

I have to agree...none would be my first choice...I will say a nut roll could be considered a "last resort--if I have to" type deal!

Send ALL the bottom feeders my way...I'm not picky at all! And, hurry, before I start my Weight Watchers again.

You are right on sister!

Mozi Esme said...

I might agree with you on the Salted Nut Rolls, but the chocolate ones? Babe Ruth shouldn't be on there . . .

So right.
Big hunk? Yuck ;P
5th Avenue :{

Those so-called candy bars are an abomination.
Thanks for writing this post, the truth must be told!!

Steph said...

I completely agree with everyone of those choices. And I also agree with Lesley on the semi sweet chocolate chips. The dough is basically ruined once you add those. Milk chocolate ALL the way!
Oh, and P.S. It was I who paid my Texas Roadhouse bill with my Old Navy Card! You get Old Navy points ya know! Sweet!

Melissa said...

I am with you on all of the above EXCEPT for the Baby Ruth...me likey that one!

Misty said...

Crap, I read the first few comments, but way too many to read! However, I agree w/you on dark chocolate. However, I used to love Big Hunks, 5th Avenue & Baby Ruth before I developed a nut allergy. It's funny though because after you posted this, I saw a big huge display of Salted Nut Rolls for 4/$1 at WalMart. The company probably has a heck of a time giving them away!

i used to hate dark chocolate, but i don't know what happened. did i mature? :) cuz now i love love it. except for the diarrhea afterwards.
