thankful thursday

the thing i am thankful for this week:

a motorcycle ride with a hot dude on a gorgeous may night in st. george. WIN/WIN/WIN/WIN.

which just kept getting better when we spotted this:

rainbow3Link

(these photos were taken from my cellphone whilst doing around 50 mph. muy impressivo, no?)

and then a (semi) double rainbow!!:

sometimes the scenery here in southern utah just takes my breath away. i love living here and am thankful that i get to raise my family in such a beautiful setting.

thankful thursday

things i am thankful for this week:

** yahoo weather--

it allows me to hop on roughly ten times a day to check current conditions.

i remember, growing up, that my dad would watch the news every single night to just catch the sports and see the weather.

but when did i become such an old person? i NEVER used to even give the weather a second thought--it was something that occurred AS it was occurring.

merely one more sign of my turning to the geriatric side.....

**speaking of weather, there just couldn't be a thankful thursday post during this time of year without me praising the weather--mid 70's this week? well, okay..... if i HAVE to:

**guilty pleasures. such as my current favorite, holly's world:

it pleases me so. judge not.

**speaking of holly, i love THIS song by josh strickland:

perhaps it's because i fancy myself one of the sexy people? or maybe it's the fact that it's sick beats require, nay, MANDATES that i report.

to the floor.

yes, it's totally formulaic--which reels me in hook, line, & sinker.

**friends who allow my daughter to live the high-life with them in las vegas all week:

chandi may never return.

**a person who would spend money outfitting their ride with this:

{LOVE them.}

**& finally, for alec baldwin:

thankful thursday

things i am thankful for this week:

**THIS cookie that i found on jennie's blog. it is sinful. which is the best kind of cookie as far as i'm concerned.

& thank you to megan for making them for rbc's birthday. they are his new favorite.

**the opportunity to purchase a totally cool new bike--

i look like a certified idiot while riding it. AND i protested much about having to wear the helmet. (safety first!) but i'm glad to finally get it.

{thank you to my angel benefactors for helping make it possible. i love you!}

**this view that i get to look at daily. it never gets old.

**pictures from costa rica that make me smile--

this is the squirrel that is currently living with/terrorizing my parents. i think he's adorable:

thankful thursday

many things to be thankful for this week:

**for the first motorcycle ride of 2010! we busted out the bike yesterday afternoon in the 78 degrees and rode blissfully for an hour--

we drove out to sand hollow resort, as our bestie, colby, runs the show out there--

and what a TRULY spectacular show it is :

the other thing to be thankful for? the fact that the police officer who pulled us over out there for (allegedly!) going 10 mph over the speed limit was feeling charitable:

we were let off with just a verbal warning. and, in return, he received our everlasting love & solidarity. like on the level of devotion we usually reserve for officer francis ("frank") "ponch" poncherello.

**speaking of beautiful weather, it could not have been nicer for "the abbeys" track & field day--

being a candidate for "worst mother of the year", i will admit that this is probably right at the top of my LEAST FAVORITE school activities. but, with the sun shining, there couldn't have been a better place to be than right there, cheering them on~

jody & i were just bummed that we weren't wearing our teensy, tinsy bikinis to take advantage....(i guess NEXT time.)

my radical breakfast club print that just came back from the framers--

the best part was that the mat, frame, & 'putting together of' this soon-to-be priceless family heirloom was a whopping 13 bucks! ( and you didn't really think i was serious when i said i was gonna order it, did you?)

it just brings me immense joy.

& speaking of immense joy, just feast your eyes on the magnificent two cats charm that my friend, michelle turned me on to for my pandora bracelet--it's life-changing, no?

**& speaking of kitties.......we are positively IN LOVE with the catty-themed blanket that my mom sewed for our family. she must know us well, hmmmm? cat & kids alike worship at the foot of this little gem--and we thank our 'shrama' for leaving us something to warm & comfort us until she and our 'shrampa' come back to us in 18 months!

we love them so~

*glee, back in full force this week--so many great things coming up, but i can hardly wait for next week's madonna-themed episode. the video above just makes me want to be sue sylvester in real-life. but only so i can spit out awesome lines like: "i am engorged with venom. and triumph."

how much did i love the cheese-ball, over-the-top remake of "hello" by lionel richie? like WAY much.

christmas lights in the STG

if you live in the santa jorge area, then you need to drive past our two favorite christmas light displays:

the most spectacular lights by sheer volume is in bloomington hills--turn onto ft. pierce drive from river road and drive past the the l.d.s. chapel and turn onto vermillion--from there, take the third right onto harmony place and there you will see it in all of it's christmas glory. the thing we like best about this is that an abundance of christmas lights usually = TACKY, but these guys have kept it classy. (almost rhymes! i'm a lyrical gangsta~)

but, by far, our new favorite house this year if off of washington fields road-- turn onto riveredge road (which soon turns into apache drive) and you'll see it at 735 apache drive. tune your radio to 101.5 fm and enjoy the choreographed lights and music--

i tell you what: this is right up my alley. i literally could have sat there for a good hour. unfortunately for me, russ and the girls were done after about 5 minutes.

i hated leaving because i wanted to see what was coming up next--so i have a feeling we might be stalking them a time or two more during this season.....

or it could be just a lone, nearly-40 year old woman in an acura. sitting for long periods of time in her car with the radio blaring. (creepy much?)

thankful thursday

**for the small al rounds st. george temple picture i conned my good man into buying me at costco--as i've gotten *ahem* more mature in these past years, i've found that i'm a sucker for anything that depicts the red rocks and beauty of southern utah.

i'm glad that i'm so persuasive--i have WAYS.

**for the chance i had to see footloose at tuacahn theater with thayne jasperson this week--

it was surprisingly good and we managed to avoid heatstroke when a rainstorm blew through.

the only thing that surprised me was how miniature thayne was--i swear, if the boy was 5'3'', i'd be shocked. but his dancing was so amazing that i wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home. and maybe place him under my pillow? hmmmmmm....

**for fellow glamazons--i got to see my blogging bff vanessa in pine valley on the 24th of july. she is freaking FABULOUS and every bit as funny and beautiful in real life. and between the two of us i'd say we have over 12 feet of height. so nobody is gonna mess with THIS business.

i just wish i would have remembered to actually comb my hair that day. YIKES.

**for little girls who like to dance. AND know the words to "don't stop believin'". train them young, i say.

thankful thursday

things i am thankful for this week:

**that we live in such a beautiful place--

**and can go out into the desert with friends....

**and build a huge bonfire & roast s'mores--

**and that glo-sticks from the dollar store can bring such JOY.

**as well as a pair of sunglasses.

**which you wear. EVERYWHERE.

**that i still have a spontaneous bone in my body. and that it will take me with my man on the motorcycle out to coyote gulch art village . and encourage me to eat a late (9:30!! that's practically MIDNIGHT for geriatric eaters like us--) dinner outside in a courtyard under some lights at xetava gardens cafe while listening to somebody play guitar & sing. it was lovely.

**and for other parents to be as fluent in DOPE as i am.

thankful thursday

things i am thankful for this week:

**for the sunday afternoon we spent with our girls in zion national park--i hadn't been since i was a teenager and was astounded by the beauty. AND the amount of foreigners. and for the joy it brought me every time they pronounced it "ZYYYYEEE-AHHHHHHN."

**for the puss-filled present growing on my brother mike's back that i got to squeeze last weekend. words cannot describe the sick & twisted, sadistic pleasure that it gave me. i thought i was going to need a cigarette after we finished. SO wrong on SO many different levels.....

then i found out that there were entire web SITES dedicated to the fine art of zit popping--glad to see that there are other freaks of nature out there....(*cough. *cough. "HEAAAHH **AMY.**)

**that i can wear one of these ULTRA-CHIC swine flu masks during the pandemic and still look fashionable while achieving forwardness at the same time. {WIN/WIN.}

**that my sister in law got a new camera. so she could take priceless family heirloom quality photos like this one of my brother.

thankful thursday

things i am thankful for this week:

**the beautiful 80 degree weather on tuesday in which these two little girls were able to play outside in for hours. with MINIMAL fighting. (MAJOR big deal.)

**the motorcycle ride i got to take with my man while looking like THIS:

while wearing these assless chaps

**the opportunity for a GOOD. NAP. :

crystal light . i've been trying to cut way down on my calories AND diet dr pepper and it's been slowly sucking my WILL. TO. LIVE. thank goodness for my leetle friend here who has saved my life. and restored my faith in humanity.

**chanandler bong and her love of choir concerts where they get to dress up in 50's garb:

& finally, for burger king--because they are making commercials like this one:
