FOWL

this photo would sum up how i do NOT feel about birds. i am somewhat obsessed with them right now, and i have no idea why.....

it could be that they are the new "blue geese" for the this season, (remember those? my mom had some canisters with them on that contrasted nicely with our rust colored wall paper....), or the "mauve and teal green" for 2008, (ahhhhhhhhh, if you could only see my house in 1994. you would have been jaaaaaelllllllouuuuuuus. MUCH.)

i think it also has something to do with the fact that all of the little birdies i collect i can buy fairly cheap--usually at tai pan trading or interior elements or target. i like that when i get sick of them, which eventually i mos def will, as i have decorating add, it won't hurt to pass them along to someone else.

someone asked me the other day how many birds i had in my house--i said not that many, and russ about had an aneurysm--he's all up in my grill, saying, "WOMAN!! YOU GO COUNT THEM, NOW!!!"

yeah, i did. and then being the blogger that i am, i took photos--and made a loverly collage:

then there are the ones that are birds, but might fall more into the hen/rooster category:

bock. bock.

these roosters are the ones i am actually the most sentimental about--the rbc bought them for me when we moved into our house 5 years ago when he really shouldn't have as they were over our non-existing decorating budget. but he did and it was immediate love for life....he prefers me to refer to them as something other than roosters, but too naughty even for me to put on the blog. let your imaginations run wild with the possibilities.....

i'm a freak. i know. just putting it out there.

HOw about the fact that I called the roosters ( yes there are two standing by each other)on my neighbors cupboard "the name". It was the best because we all looked at each other and just started laughing. Oh...so naughty!

The first step is always admitting you have a problem. Just stand up and say:
"Hi, my name is mindi and I am a birdaholic".

"Hi, mindi!"
wink wink

Oh I had forgotten about the blue geese. Wow the memories you inspire. I kind of have a little rooster addiction myself.

This is crazy. I think my friend Patrece is so afraid of read birds, that this would just plain FREAK her out.

dead lifeless or fake birds are fine. real ones are nasty, annoying and gross. have you ever been attacked by seagulls?! I have and was forced to hide in a building until I couldn't wait any longer and ran for my life...that's when the true hatin' began.

True dat, Krista! That little girl on the first pic. . .that was me at age 10. San Diego Zoo, many birds swooping, swooping. Can't even go near them. But seagulls, wow. They are flying rats.

Love the first pic. It brings back memories of a certain family trip to DC, a flock of birds, and my poor cousin.

No worries, these are harmless, poopless, featherless friends that you are welcoming into your home, could be worse.

I do like the little birdies myself. If I was ever going to do a thematic decor (aside from my current nun theme, of course), I'd do birds, i think.

I love the birdies! Very nice. I think it's nice to collect something, even though it may drive your hubby crazy.

If your husband says you have too many, I can help you sell some on eBay if you would like:)
