ABBEY 2ND GRADEwhen i was in grade school all i wanted was the "A" photo package--you know, the one with the 8x10, 2 5x7's, 4 4x5's, 12 wallets, and 36 bajillion 2x3's? and every year my mom would scan down the list until she found the VERY CHEAPEST option--generally somewhere in the vicinity of package s or t--only one up from the "single class photo" option which was the kiss of death.
i used to take a bit of offense--didn't lana want my 8x10 photo hanging on the wood-paneled wall going up the stairway in "steps" along with the other school framed photos? did she love me less because she didn't want a large quantity of mindi images to have and to hold?
then i became a mom and suddenly the light bulb clicked over my head. i love my kids. TONS. and happen to think that they could quite possibly be the most beautiful children around. but this year i got the cheapest package in the whole deal. NO airbrushing, re-touching, or cute captions.
and it STILL cost me $17.00 per child.

I am also scarred from lack of photos.. When I was getting my bridal pictures taken my mom said ( in a very disgusted voice) "Do we have to have a larger than life Bridal photo of you? Let's not get anything bigger than an 8X10!" I was the first daughter to get married so I set the rules as to how the wedding photos would go. Viv sure didn't want any "larger than life" bridals of her 3 daughters hanging around. I was also one of the Package s school photos. I will discuss all of this in therapy... and I am sending Viv the bill!

First of all, your girls are gorgeous/adorable/the cutest ever. (I have a fifth grade boy, by the way...)
And secondly, did we have the EXACT same childhood??? I never got package A. NEVER!
I've grown up like you too. My kids get the cheapest package at the beginning of the year, and NO package at all in the springtime when those evil picture-takers try to rob us again.
Seriously! Those girls are gorgeous!!! I am all for package Z - I just scan them in and email them anyway ;)

I would have to agree and say I am all about package z too! Plus if I am going to fork over money for pictures, I want some say in background and making sure their hair is not all jacked up from recess and that their smiling so I'd rather take them to the studio and get it done. Just sayin'.
Did you say retouching? I needed some of that with all those cold sores.
I was offended every year when my mom wouldn't buy package A. No fair that they have re-touching!

Picture day is this week. I'm only purchasing the class photo. I guess I'll just have the photographer take some way cuter pics (when we get family pics) and get an 8X10 at wal mart for 2 bucks. That damn Lifetouch is making a killing. The last two years we had to have re-takes because the 17 year old girl taking them didn't know how to center my child in the pic.
PS, you have the most adorable girls, I'm glad to see they are centered in their pictures. Thanks for letting me rant.
Nope. I think I beat you on the cheapest package. We went all the way down and only got the class picture. $7.50. I'd like to think that this is just because I like the Spring pictures they take later in the year better, not that we're cheap...

The boys are getting theirs done on Wednesday...we always go for the smaller packages. It still costs a small fortune that we don't have. And we always have some left over. Go figure.
Sorry, I am the big package girl. I have the "steps" going down my stairs too :) Am I fired?

I have a book of all my 8x10's growing up. I love it. I cherish it. Esepcially my first grade picture with my scab on my nose from cracking it. Then memories come flooding back...

I have a scar.. but it's not noticable, becuase I scared that doctor man.

Beautiful girls. If I could get away with not ordering any school pics, I would be fine. Especially during the middle school years. he doesn't want to smile anyway, so why bother?

I love these, they turned out great! I too never got pckg. A and I was always so bummed. Avery just had her class pictures today, and I paid 18 dollars as well. Such a rip off.
At least you GOT a package. My mom would send a note to school with me saying that she was opting out of school photos altogether. then they would make me stand at the very end of the line to get our pictures taken, like I was a pariah. Sure, my mom got our pictures taken at a nice photo studio instead. But no one in school knew that. They just figured I was an orphan. Serious TRAUMA over school photo day.

Well, feel good....I don't even buy the A package or the cheapeast...I take them down to Sears so we can get a real photo.
They are looking really good though...I may spring the money if my kids looked that cute in their dreaded school pics.
