i like to pull weeds

i like pulling weeds. like, i REALLY like to pull them.

i got this directly from my father. he has never met a weed yet in his 67 years that he didn't want to pull. it is something born and bred within him so strongly that he could never deny the urge--we children would groan and roll our eyes when he would pull them in the neighbor's yard, in lots and propertie we had for sale or development--in fact, some of his favorite weed pulling was on our way to church.  our chapel was just a hop, skip, and a jump from our house, so he'd be holding scriptures in one hand while pulling weeds with the other. my dad is a hard working, thrifty, go-get-'em done man who loves to also hose down anything and gather big piles of weeds together and burn them.

now that russ and i have a ginormous yard of our own, i realized about 4 years ago when we started to have to dig in that i actually kinda liked the yard work. now, don't get me wrong--i have still never started or operated our lawn mower or edger, that's straight up man's work--but i am in charge of the weeding and grooming of smaller plants and bushes and i really likey. (yeah. i said grooming of bushes.)

the best part about pulling weeds is that you can tell when you are gonna get a good one-- you KNOW, the REALLY SATISFYING one that you can tug from the base and get out all the roots and have it shake out like a salt shaker. or a polaroid picture. the ones that suck are the ones you know are gonna break off right at the bottom, no matter what you do, and you'll have to hack it out of the ground with a spade, thus ruining all the fun.

i've decided that it's fairly good therapy.

Oh.....My.....Hell! I totally laughed out loud and I'm sure my husband is in our room rolling his eyes!!

You got me on your dad never meeting a weed he didn't want to pull and the trimming the bush!!!

They are pretty Org@$#%*^ at times, but not like the youtube experience of picking zits that you turned me on to!! HOly great balls of fire, that was 1 hour well spent last night!

Keep it up! I love it!

I am so the same way - I have never met a weed that I didn't want to pull. It drives my hubby crazy too. However, I'm not with you on the busy grooming. YOu're on your own there.

I guess it'll be group therapy because I have a thing for it too. I like our yard to look meticulous and as hard as Ryan works out there to mow and trim the yard, I am following him weeding it. I hate how those weeds creep up through the sidewalk cracks and the rocks, drives me crazy!

The sad thing, I think I 've passed along this little crazy trait of mine to Jake because he was doing it outside in Jiffy Lube's parking lot the other day when we were getting our oil changed! I should post it because I had to take pictures, ya know!

I tis so good to know that I'm not the only one! It's really a compulsive thing for me especially in my garden, there is not a single weed, not even a baby weed in my garden. I think that's because it's one thing that I have absolute control over...is that wrong?

And I swear I have like five different types of clover that I'm battling in my yard right now and every time I'm out there pulling, the I'm mentally putting hexes on the last company we ordered topsoil from!!!! Why did they have to send me a dirt load full of weeds!?!?

I hate, loathe despise all weed-pulling. I just feel like a weed is nagging in plant form. And my solution to nagging is just to tune it out. Thus I just ignore the weeds in the hope that they'll just go away. Clever, no?
I am, however, a sucker for cleaning out ears. A similar concept, I believe. My kids are always running the other way "Mommy, you just cleaned my ears!" Nothing as satisfying as cleaning out some really dirty, gross ears!

My answer to your question is YES.

My coworker and I were just having the weeding conversation. She loves to mow the lawn, and I hate anything to do with nature, so weeds are my demise.

Girl, before you get therapy, head on down to my house. You are welcome to each and every weed you can find. I'll even make you lunch after.

therapy is not neccessary--but if it was i'd be right there with you...i go out to the garden daily and tend to the weeds. I love pulling those sticker burr weeds....they come out soooo easy!

Heavy.Duty.Therapy.years of it....JK: that was hillarious! I actually secretly really like cleaning my house. I hate finding the time to do it, but I get a thrill from taking something dirty and making it clean...maybe I'm the one who needs therapy :)

Ok, really? I can't believe all the people that like pulling weeds!?! I HATE yard work. Thank goodness I have a husband and kids to take care of it.

You most certainly do and I think it needs to be in the form of more weed pulling. May I suggest you head on over to my place. I've got enough weeds here to hold you over until your weeds grow back.

Yes, you need help!
You and any others that love to pull weeds can come to my house, it is not on my list of faves.

On your way up to John Mayer next week, will you stop by my house in Payson and pull some weeds? Thanks, that would be great. (I'll buy your dinner @ cafe rio!)

wow, I could have written that post myself! I love love love to pull the ones that grow straight up and you can pull the whole root out, and I hate hate hate the ones that break off. the ones with the ruffley leaves that have some kind of superglue on their roots that keeps them in there so well. Those are my nemesis. I say after Cafe Rio, we go pull some weeds together. Bonding time.

Speaking of grooming bushes...I was accused of leaving the"my husband and I are both hairless from the neck down...don't tell his cop friends" comment on your confession extravaganza! Not me. I would have never admitted such secrets then left the cop clue. Too many people know Sean is a cop!

I love to pull weeds, just not when it is 100+ degrees outside like right now.

as long as the pulling of the good weed does not involve smoking it ;)

O.K. I'm so glad to know this about you because anytime you need to be "satisfied" in the weed pulling department I am the girl for you! I have a huge yard full of them.

WHISKTY. TANGO. FOXTROT! Why don't you do your good friend a good dead and get your arse up here and satisfy your weed pulling desire for about a three weeks. I paid thousands of dollars to landscape and then turned it right backover to the mountain. I LOATH pulling weeds!

It is my therapy!! I love it too! I love being in the heat of the day and go to work. I could be out there all day.

I love that picture!

Ok...I've got to tell you that every comment from me should count as 10...your blog is so full of fun that it takes me forever every time I try to comment...I know I know, I'm complaining..I just thought that you'd want to know that you may be able to get a few more comments from me and my ancient computer if your blog used a little less memory...but that might take the fun away for everybody else.

so, what am I commenting about? Oh yeah....weed...I mean, weeds...i like to pull them too. I also like to peel sunburned skin....who do you think is more wierd?
