i have a strict "no kids in my bed" policy. which came from my mother, who followed this rule. the exception was if my dad was gone out of town, and then each one of us kids got a turn to sleep in mom's bed with her. which i DON'T SUBSCRIBE to, as i think it sounds like pure torture, as MY children like to perform sleeping acrobatics and eventually i'm gonna end up with a foot in my face. or worse.
now i'm the mom and i realize that my children feel that way about my bed. they love to sneak in and lay between the sheets and they constantly are amazed at how toasty and warm it is in mom and dad's bed.
i'm glad to know that my bed is carrying on the tradition.
sometimes in the early mornings i could sneak into my parent's waterbed (hey! it was the 70's!) and burrow underneath the covers and each time i marvelled at how much SOFTER and WARMER and more COMFORTING that bed was.
it had the same sheets as my bed, same pillows. yet there was nothing like the feeling of security i had when i'd lay under those blankets.

i must be going soft because sometimes mia will come in early in the morning and find her way in and snuggle up right next to me, and i find that i can't resist. the power of that warm little body is simply something that renders me powerless.
i'm glad to know that my bed is carrying on the tradition.

There's something just as warm and fuzzy about spoiling the youngest as well, don't you think?
YEP comments are a workin'!
-K- this post had me cryin' like no other. I too am so firm on no little stinkers in my bed but lately with all the hustle and bustle crap I find myself just cravin' some midget snugglin'! I even bribe them with "a PILE of Books"! Works every time!
Heh, my parents had the nice warm waterbed, too! My little sister and I used to fight over who got to sleep in the bed when my dad was out of town. We usually both ended up in there because it was a king size. Ah, bliss.
We have the same no kids policy also...because Elijah is the worst. He yells and kicks like none other in his sleep. Not fun.
I do like the cuddle time though...makes me wish they'd stop growing for a bit.
I have the same problem with my youngest. Makes me feel very guilty about the older kids. As soon as they set thier cold little toes in my bed I ordered them right back to thier rooms. Hey, I did put another blanky on them...
I like my bed better now that I'm an adult too - go figure.. I hated sleeping growing up, and it was always a necessary evil. I still like to stay up as late as I can, and sleep in as late as I can.
We have the same no kids policy, but when Joe's gone I break down sometimes too. I think my favorite part is when they come in and snuggle and you can feel their soft warm skin cuddled close. Then they start to kick and it's time to put them back! :)
OK I am a little nuts, but I love having the monkeys sleep with us. Each of our three has spent most of their nights with us until they were around five. The youngest is four and still sleeps with us about four nights a week. It is not unusual to find an another one has slipped in before morning. They are our little ones only once.
Next time I come visit I want to climb in bed with you and RBC. Just sayin'....
That's adorable! We never were allowed to sleep in my parents' bed. But after a bath, they would turn on their electric blanket and put us in their bed. We loved it. And now we let our kids snuggle up in our bed after a bath and watch Deigo. They love it just as we did.
My parents would never even let us in their room, much less their bed...I however, LOVE to snuggle with my kids in my bed. I'll let them at night sometimes if they're having a hard time sleeping, then Lance takes them up to their bed. My favorite is when they come climbing in early in the morning :)...I don't enjoy the feet in the face throughout the night though, so that's why Lance takes them up when they fall asleep...
I have had all 3 kids in my bed. Yes I am beat up many a night. But there is something about a little warm body to snuggle with, and mama being to lazy to put a nursing baby back in the crib. That is why I co-sleep.
I have the same memories. Like I got to stay in my mom's bed all day long and watch TV when I was sick...
This is heartwarming and you definitely put my thoughts into words. I sometimes can't deny my little snuggle-ball!
Such a sweet post. I have a no kids rule too, but there are just those times when those little bodies are so snugly and warm.
