my parents left today for costa rica for 18 months and i'm feeling blue....
they are excited and i know that serving a mission for our church makes them so happy, so i am happy for them--i just wish that it was more like 18 days. i think that would be much more doable.
i love my parents and am so grateful for the wonderful example they are to me and everyone around them--i am proud of their lives and am grateful for their love.
so, today i give myself just a moment to be sad and to mope a bit and feel sorry for myself. and then it's onward & upward!
(being sad today included creating teen-angst broken heart collages. good stuff!)

Sorry you're sad. Nice excuse to visit Costa Rica though right? I hear the surfing is awesome.
A faithful lurker here, just coming out to say that Costa Rica is a wonderful place. The people are kind and humble. The weather is great (just don't go visit them Sept. through end of Nov, the peak of the rainy season). The ocean water is wonderfully warm. It is a lovely place to take your family to visit their grandparents. We have some condos there and go back and forth from Utah to there four or five times a year. I really never want to go anywhere else. What part are they serving in?
Ugh. My heart is aching for you. If I were closer geographically, I would show up with a giant pebble-ice caffeinated drink, chocolate, and some monogrammed tissues for you.
Awww Poodle - I am so sorry :(
Glad they finally got their visa issues sorted out though!
:(
Feel better soon. And eat lots of chocolate.
Gut-wrenching! Yeah yeah yeah, we all know it's for a good cause, but still it's hard to not have your momma around. I'm dreading the day when my mom announces her mission!
thanks for that. I was doing better until you had to go put up that collage of broken hearts. that is how mine feels today since i watched their plane fly over my head. :(
I am just finishing off my sentence of 18 months parent-less. Mine went to Russia and I thought I would die! It gets easier. Just hook up with skype and you'll make it. Good luck!
MAN UP! seriously
My parents left in December and my 4 sisters and I were not too excited about the whole thing, but it hasn't been too bad! They only chose a year though so I am glad for that!
Sorry you are feeling the blues! Hope the time goes quickly!
mmmmm....those broken heart cookies look GOOD. I must need a snack.
I hope you get to go pick up your parents after their mission. Costa Rica rocks! Are they on a temple mission?
My went to Fiji a few years ago and it was over in about ten seconds. And then she came back and lectured us about how spoiled we are for about a year.
