my lips hurt REAL BAD.

(does she look like an addict who's just hit a 'BIG SCORE'??? that's cuz she is. and cuz she did.)

i knew the first night i met russ that i was supposed to marry him--that's because he pulled out mentholatum chapstick about 30 minutes into the date. the only people i knew who carried mentolatum chapstick were my dad and his twin brother, my uncle dale.

so it goes that we have a serious "lip chap" addiction at our house. i've always said that if i were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one toiletry item it would be carmex. even over toothpaste. (YES)

our addiction manifests itself in chandler--the girl will NOT leave the house without her "chappy", and often picks out clothing with pockets only so that she has a place for it. if her mean mother forces her to wear a dress, she tucks it down in her bra (sorry, love--part of the story) or convinces kristin to sew her a "chappy pocket" like this:

Oh and Carmex is the devil. Oh and funny story. Ethan had a couple of sores in the corner of his mouth from his mouthguard for football. He put some Carmex on it and said that it didn't heal it. He said "I think I got some bad Carma" (forgetting what it was called) It made me giggle.

And to think I thought I made up the term "lip chap" and use the term freely! Holy Cow!

I'm going to have to go against the grain on the Carmex. I used to use it all the time and I think it made my lips worser and I was always needing to reapply. Since giving up Carmex my lips seem so much better. My favs are Burt's bees (of course with color), regular ol Chapstick, and a few others. I don't go anywhere without some sort of moisture!

I actually used to be a diehard Natural Ice fan too, but then I cheated on my preferred "chap" with Burt (of Burt's Beeswax) and I have never gone back since. Oh Burt, I do love you and Natural Ice, you will always be my first!

I love that even your hubby "to be" had a chappy addiction, that's love at first sight!

I used to be a Carmex addict in Jr. High. Can't do it anymore. I've moved up the ladder to Lip Smackers.

But I'm with you on taking something for my lips, over toothpaste. I HAVE to have something on my lips, at all times.

my best friend Erica got me addicted to Carmex in high school...I have long since given it up. I do love my plain ole cherry chapstick though. I have one in my car, one in my purse, one in my bathroom...never without it :)

I also am a recovering addict. But if it is in the same room as I am, I cannot help myself-I have to indulge.

I hear once that carmex puts tiny pieces of broken glass into that stuff, so that it is actually causing tiny cuts that feel like chapped lips so that you keep using more and more. I'm sure its true.

Seriously though, I used to be a serious chapstick addict too. My lips were always chapped, and I'd constantly be using the stuff. But, I broke the habit, and my lips have been softer, less chapped, but less red as well. Weird.

Seriously I'm with you on the lip chap over toothpaste. Just eat a little sand...it's pretty much like going to the dentist just not quite so high pressured...

I have the ultimate chapstick addiction (only I always called it "lip salve"). I have going strong since middle school. Used to be into Carmex, but I got tired of digging in the container with my nails.

Now I prefer the subtlety of Chapstick Moisturizing (spf15). It is mellow and I can put my lipstick on over the top of it. During the day I use the lipgloss that comes with my CG Outlast lipstick. It's ultra slick and shiny. The Porsche of the lip moisturizing world.

I'm addicted to the stuff, too. Carmex was the fave in elementary and junior high for me. Now I use Desert Essence with Tea Tree Oil. I seriously freak out if I can't find one of my four stashes.

hahaha, I was just going to tell about my sister's carmex addiction, but I see she beat me to it. You have no idea how addicted she was to her stinky lip salve. UGH.

Personally, I prefer Blistex lip ointment. Smooth like lotion, tingly, non greasy, super awesome.

My husband is a Natural Ice addict and now so are my sons. I hear you on the "knowing" when you saw the stick! :)
